World Day of Prayer for Religious

(February 2, 2012)

Bishop Cunningham has invited us to "remember and celebrate the men and women religious who have been an incomparable blessing in our Diocese for more than 125 years."

"This day is set aside to honor and thank the men and women religious whose vocation answered a call to respond to the needs of people throughout the diocese and to strengthen the faith of generation after generation in the Diocese of Syracuse."

He recommended special intercessory prayers for the consecrated religious in our parishes, past and present, and provided a sample prayer for use in private and parish celebrations.

Find the prayer here.

Pope Benedict XVI

to the Youth

in New York,

April 19, 2008

"Friends, again I ask you, what about today?  What are you seeking? What is God whispering to you?

The hope which never disappoints is Jesus Christ.

It is from within the Church that you too will find the courage and support to walk the way of the Lord.

Nourished by personal prayer, prompted in silence, shaped by the Church’s liturgy

you will discover the particular vocation God has for you.

Embrace it with joy!"
